Readings for the 22nd Sunday in Ordinary Time - Week of August 28, 2011
Reading 1: Jeremiah 20: 7-9
Reading 2: Romans 12: 1-2
Gospel: Matthew 16: 21-27

Theme: The cross is a way that leads to true life.
Question for Children: Jesus tells us that we each called to follow him. What is hard for you to do to follow Jesus?

Question for Youth: As you grow in age and wisdom, you face increasingly difficult choices. How do you make sure that one of those choices is to remain faithful to Christ and the Church?

Question for Adults: Jesus gives us the core truth to life and eternal happiness - the cross. Name the cross that you carry. How is it bringing you closer to God?

Attention First Grade Parents: Please plan on getting your child’s First Grade Medical Physical Exam soon.!

Double Service Hour Opportunity! Volunteers are needed to help out on Saturday, September 3, 2011 with the Parish Concert. Most of the help needed is with food preparation. There will be a morning shift and from 9-12 and a shift starting at around 1pm. Also, on Friday night volunteers are needed for set up at 6:30pm. For more information contact Zoila @ (310) 733-7010

The school lunch program begins August 29, 2011. Please send a lunch between now and then. If you are applying to participate in the lunch program, please complete and turn in the application no later than this Friday.

Since we have started school so early, it gives us more time to sell raffle tickets. Keep selling them and watch for special prizes for families who have sold lots of books!

To all 7th and 8th grade parents: State immunization law has changed. We now need proof of a tdap booster shot (Pertussis) We need this ASAP. If this is not done by Thursday, August 31, state law and the education code says that your child may not attend school until it is done.

If you did not receive your raffle tickets or you did not receive a SMART invoice for tuition as of today, please contact Mrs. Rodriguez in the front office.
